The members of the GOWRS Network do excellent work in helping wildlife. These organisations can help members of industry and other stakeholders prepare by assisting with the development of wildlife plans that can be brought into play if an incident occurs.
However, these organisations also help many animals through rescue and rehabilitation and have been involved with many incidents through the years, both locally and internationally.
Many of the GOWRS members have their own blog posts so you can read more about their work:
- The GOWRS Coordinator, Adam Grogan, used to work for the RSPCA in the UK and here he recounts the RSPCA’s involvement in perhaps the first major spill to strike the public consciousness; the wrecking of the Torrey Canyon in 1967.
